Highlights: The week has been exceptionally wet and windy but the weather brightened up today. The birds are out there but the birders (on the whole) haven't. However, with the KFN fall Round-up taking place this weekend, some rarities should be forthcoming. Here are the highlights of the last week: BRANT - a flock of 28 birds was seen on Wolfe Island on 4th. CACKLING GOOSE - now a regular species in the area, birds were seen throughout the week with a high of 7 seen near Bath on 8th. REDHEAD - over 15,000 individuals were seen during an IBA waterfowl survey on Wolfe Island on 4th. BLACK SCOTER - birds continued in the area during the week, with 9 seen on the Greater Napanee River on 4th. RED-NECKED GREBE - individual birds were seen in Kingston and Napanee on 4th. ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK - several birds returned to the area this week. GOLDEN EAGLE - not an easy bird to track down in our area, 4 birds were seen this week at Murvale and Odessa, both on 4th, Prince Edward Point on 6th, and Lansdowne on 10th. SANDHILL CRANE - 3 birds were seen near Chaffey's Locks on 5th. LITTLE GULL - an adult was present on the Greater Napanee River on 4th. BROWN THRASHER - a late bird was seen near Lower Brewers Mills on 4th. COMMON YELLOWTHROAT - a late bird was seen at Martin Edwards Reserve, Amherst Island on 4th. LINCOLN'S SPARROW - a late individual was at Marshlands CA, Kingston on 4th. SNOW BUNTING - the first returning birds were seen at various locations on 4th.
