I have what I believe is a large species of Alcid slightly beyond the limit of my optics, resting on the water at Shirleys Bay. Low profile and strong black and white theme are coming through in the heat shimmer. Just getting word out. I am parked at the Shirleys Bay boat launch, scoping the river. The bird is km's out in the river. Location of parking lot is off of Carling Avenue, take Rifle Road to its dead end.
