Highlights: The Owl Woods (Amherst Island) remain closed for the weekend but will reopen on Monday. Here are the highlights of the last week: KING EIDER - the immature male that was first seen at Wellington, Prince Edward County on 19th November was last seen on 3rd December. BLACK SCOTER - a female was present at Horne's Ferry, Wolfe Island, on 3rd. PIED-BILLED GREBE - a late bird was seen near Lyndhurst on 6th. TURKEY VULTURE - 2 were seen at Prince Edward Point on 3rd. NORTHERN GOSHAWK - an immature bird was seen near Lyndhurst on 6th. SNOWY OWL - numbers on the Amherst and Wolfe islands remain low. GYRFALCON - a late report of a grey individual that was seen near Lansdowne on 27th Nov. MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRD - found on 3rd on Babylon Road, Prince Edward, this accommodating bird remained until 5th with no further reports, negative or otherwise, after this date. NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD - a single bird was seen on Wolfe Island on 3rd. AMERICAN PIPIT - a late bird was still present on 2nd. CHIPPING SPARROW - a couple of late birds were photographed in the area - a single at prince Edward Point on 2nd and another near Hay Bay on 4th. WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILL - individuals were noted at Yarker and Verona on 3rd/4th. PINE SISKIN - Still waiting for this and other winter finches to arrive. Individuals were seen at Millhaven on 30th and Verona on 3rd and 8th.
