Hello folks:
Yes the Tufted Duck is still around. At about 3:40 PM today, I was able to
re-find it and show it to a couple of “birders”.
Beware that in the raft of some 50 Scaups, ( At Tall Oaks Park) there is
also a Ring-necked Duck now.
They drifted to Hiawatha Park. As well, most of the Diving Ducks are off
Rhododendron Park & Ben Machree Park where the Tufted Duck was for most of last
Saturday and Sunday; There are some 1600 Greater Scaups at Ben Machree &
Rhododendron parks. Plus.., A few Lesser Scaups and some Redheads. Patience is
required!
The daily pattern for the Tufted Duck ( and most of the raft of Aythia sp.)
seems to be ...., in the am west of Ben Machree Park ( & Rhododendron Park)
...and in the PM drift easterly toward Saddington Park and East of Hiway 10. It
Did this on Saturday and on Sunday! And today at 3:40 pm it was SE of Tall Oaks
Park.)
At Saddington Park and Waterfront Trail, there has also been a Northern
Shrike.
Hoping everyone gets to see this Tufted Duck!!
Merry Christmas.

Subject: [Ontbirds] Tufted Duck at Elmwood in Mississauga
Luc Fazio called to say that he just refound the Tufted Duck in a small flock
of about 50 scaup off Elmwood. This is east of Hurontario. So it’s still
around. The main flock of scaup has been off Ben Machree the last few days.
Seasons Greetings and Good Birding,
