I am posting this on behalf of Brenda Evers: Today (3 February 2018) Brenda Evers observed an adult Red-tailed x Red-shouldered Hawk along Howe Island Ferry Rd. On 23 November 2016, Andrew Keaveney observed what appears to be the same bird 1 km W of Howe Island Rd., along Highway 2.
Here is a link to Brenda's photos from today: http://eontbird.ca/?p=8230 Here is a link to Andrew Keaveney's photos, from 23 November 2016: http://eontbird.ca/?p=3994 Directions: Howe Island Ferry Rd. is approximately 2 km W of the town of Gananoque. It is accessed via Highway 2. From Highway 2, head S along Howe Island Ferry Road. Andrew observed the bird (23 November 2016) 1 km W of Howe Island Ferry Road, so the general area, where the bird is believed to have set up a winter territory, is worth checking. Good birding, Jon _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists (OFO) - the provincial birding organization.
