Ontario birders, Some more excitement at Long Point yesterday as a cooperative LeConte’s Sparrow was discovered near the entrance to the ‘New’ Long Point Provincial Park. It was not redound this morning.
Mid-day a White-winged Dove was discovered at the Tip, and is present again this morning. At 1730, our crew at the Breakwater Research Station (restricted access) reported a Wood Stork flying northwest. This bird could show up anywhere, but the best options locally may be the Big Creek National Wildlife Area, Crown Marsh Trail, or Old Cut. It’s unlikely that anyone is going to find this bird, it’ll find you. Details about any of these locations can be found in the Long Point Birding Trail. Good Birding, Stu To get to Long Point, follow the birds, or head south on Hwy 59 from the 401 until you hit the lake. Visitors are always welcome at the Old Cut Research Station, and daily birding hikes depart Old Cut one hour after sunrise.
