A mix of sun and showers with a south wind made it a prefect morning for fall
outs on Lake Bernard
Shortly after 11am this morning I did a check of Lake Bernard from my house.
I noticed a large flock of Whimbrel approx. 125 birds landing and lifting off
again from a point of land just south of my location. The birds remained there
until noon and as skies cleared lifted off heading North.
A large flock of shorebirds approx.. 300 birds ,mostly Dunlin, White-rumped
Sandpipers, Dowitchers (most likely Short billed) and a handful of peeps showed
interest in landing at the point but soon disappeared heading south along the
lake shore.
25 Arctic Terns flew low over the lake calling the entire time and continued on
North when reaching the end of the lake.
A flock of 45 Dunlin pitched into the point at 1pm and are there at present.
Surprising no Brant they may be moving well east of my location today.
This is by far the best fallout I have witnessed on Lake Bernard ever. Going
out to watch some more.
Sundridge and Lake Bernard is located North Of Huntsville along hwy. 11.
