6 birders joined co-leaders Lynne Freeman and Jack Alvo for the Breeding
Birds outing at Evergreen Brickworks in Toronto on Saturday. This trip was
a joint event between OFO and the TOC.

Without leaving the path, we discovered the nests of many breeding birds:
American Robins, Baltimore Orioles, Warbling Vireos, Mourning Dove,
Grackle, House Sparrows, Purple Martins and Barn Swallows.

We enjoyed covert looks at fledgling Red-winged Blackbirds being fed as
they hid in the reeds. Other highlights included: finding the egg shells
from newly hatched Barn Swallows, learning about and observing breeding
bird biology, including fecal sacs and nest hiding strategies and perhaps
best of all, watching Chimney Swifts gliding across the pond for their
morning drink of water.
