It was a windy, wavy day at Owen Point today, like so many fine birding days
I’ve seen there. There were many shorebirds constantly moving around to be seen
including Baird’s and a White-rumped Sandpiper, but what I was hoping to see
was a male Eurasian Wigeon in non-breeding plumage. My first attempt early in
the morning was unsuccessful as it was so rough and so grey. I was successful
in my second attempt around 6 pm though, when I saw it associating with a small
group of American Wigeon. However it was still difficult to see as it kept
going behind a bunch of rocks and behind the shore on the north side of Gull
Island.

To reach Presquile follow the 401 until Brighton turnoff County rd 30. Head
south and follow signs to Park. To get out to Owen Point you can either park at
the Owen Point trail parking lot or take the shorter back way trail by parking
in the Park Store lot.
