This morning, Friday, September 14, a juvenile Little Blue Heron was observed on the Grand River at the confluence of the Grand and Speed rivers from 8:04 a.m. to 8:11 a.m. Bird was scoped by Bill Wilson and photographed by B. Wilson, B. Johnson and D. Thomas from the benches along the trail; bird was about 280m along the shoreline of the baylet on the Grand. I will post if refound.
Hwy 401 exit # 278, Highway 8 to Cambridge-Preston. Proceed down Shantz Hill and keep left on Fountain Street; turn right on to King Street at the lights. Proceed on King Street, over the Speed River bridge to intersection with Westminster Drive where there are lights. Turn right at lights and follow Westminster to where it curves left and becomes Riverside Drive. Park along road and walk across grass to the benches which overlook the confluence of the Grand and Speed rivers.
