Over the past few days, a swath of open water on Lake Scugog off Scugog
Point has widened until it is now about 10 acres of open water.

It didn't take long for the geese and ducks to appear. Today there are over
3,000 Canada geese, and in fairly good numbers, Common Mergansers, Hooded
Mergansers, Lesser Scaup, Greater Scaup, Ring-neck Ducks, Buffleheads,
Redheads, Common Goldeneye, Mallards, Black Ducks, and a smattering of Wood
Ducks, Pintails, American Wigeon, and a few Cackling Geese, plus,
periodically Trumpeter Swans.

I suspect there is very little open-water further north and therefore, they
may be around for a while.

Directions: Durham 57 north out of Bowmanville... Turn left at Scugog
Point Rd and proceed to lake (total=about 38 km). Or... Take 7A out of Port
Perry, head east, turn onto 57, about 1 km past Blackstock light, proceed
about 7 km to Scugog Point Rd.
