The American Woodcock have started doing their courtship displays.

While hiking through Yarmouth Tract this evening at twilight I heard a couple
of male American Woodcock singing in the overgrown fields that were planted
with prairie grass species directly adjacent to the large pond (restored gravel
pit).

Yarmouth Tract an 85 ha natural area with hiking trails that is managed by the
Catfish Creek Conservation Authority. To get there from Highway 3 take
Springwater Road, crossing Highway 45 (John Wise Road) to Forsyth Line. Turn
left, heading east on Forsyth Line and turn left on Sparta Line. Continue down
the hill to the parking lot on the north side before Catfish Creek.

Good birding,
