We are experiencing a fabulous day of birding in the Park today. This morning there was a reverse movement off the Tip of intensity that produced a great array of species. Many have described this morning as one of the best in 30 years. BALTIMORE ORIOLES, SCARLET TANAGERS, INDIGO BUNTINGS, BLACKBIRDS, and many species of warblers were involved. Over thirty species of warblers have been reported, many of them in the morning reverse flight at The Tip. A CERULEAN, KENTUCKY, HOODED, BLUE-WINGED, and YELLOW-THROATED WARBLER were amongst those reported. A SUMMER TANAGER also flew off. YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOO, PHILADELPHIA VIREO, and YELLOW-BELLIED FLYCATCHER were seen at the Tip. A YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT was seen behind the washrooms at Sleepy Hollow. Another is likely still at the Northwest Beach Parking Lot. In Tilden Woods the KENTUCKY WARBLER from yesterday was found again. Also MOURNING WARBLER, and CANADA WARBLER. There are PROTHONOTARY WARBLERS still along the Woodland Trail, but the sloughs are hard to get to as there is high water on the east side. One PROTHONOTARY was spotted in Tilden Woods as well.
