Highlights: The migration continued on schedule this week but it was actually rather quiet overall with one major highlight at the tail end of the week. Here are the highlights of the last week: REDHEAD - a flock of 150 birds was still present at Button Bay, Wolfe Island, on 4th with approximately 800 GREATER SCAUP. EASTERN WHIP-POOR-WILL - the first birds for the season were heard at Napanee Limestone Plain IBA on 4th. SANDHILL CRANE - birds were observed on Opinicon Road on 5th and 6th. BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER - a single bird was seen at Martin Edwards Reserve, Amherst Island, on 4th. LEAST BITTERN - the first of the year was heard at Moscow Marsh on 8th. EASTERN WOOD-PEWEE - a single bird was at Lemoine Point CA, Kingston, on 8th. PEREGRINE FALCON - Kingston's downtown bird was seen on several occasions this week, with another bird seen at Prince Edward Point on 5th. LOGGERHEAD SHRIKE - 1-2 birds were seen at Napanee Limestone Plain IBA over the week with a single seen near the Lennox and Addington Power Station on 5th. CAROLINA WREN - a single bird was heard in the town of Marysville, Wolfe Island, on 5th. NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD - an interesting week for this species with 2 records in Kingston at Marshlands CA on 4th and Lemoine Point CA on 9th, with 2 other records just northeast of the circle, also on 4th. EVENING GROSBEAK - a few birds continued this week, with sightings from downtown Kingston, Verona, and Shannon's Corners. GRASSHOPPER SPARROW - the first birds of the season (2) were heard on Wolfe Island on 4th. CLAY-COLOURED SPARROW - only one record so far this season with 1 located on Wolfe Island on 4th. ORCHARD ORIOLE - a male returned to its usual location of Lemoine Point CA , Kingston, on 8th. LOUISIANA WATERTHRUSH - a single bird continued at the known location of Canoe Lake Road this week. HOODED WARBLER - a good-looking male has been present behind the banding station at Prince Edward Point for 3 days (7th - 9th). BAY-BREASTED WARBLER - the first sighting of the year was of a single bird at Prince Edward Point on 8th. INDIGO BUNTING - the only record so far this season is of a single bird near Yarker on 8th.
