Today is another fine day of birding in the Point. There were several "best
birds" seen today. A SWALLOW-TAILED KITE flew southward for the length of the
Park and disappeared off the Tip, but was seen flying south again in the late
morning. Also noted in the reverse flight heading south off The Tip this
morning was a BLUE GROSBEAK and SUMMER TANAGER. A CHUCK-WILLS-WIDOW was noted
flying along the road near the Tip early this morning. A YELLOW-THROATED
WARBLER was reported from Anders Footpath near the Cemetery.
About 28 species of warbler have been reported today in fewer numbers than
yesterday. Highlights include YELLOW-THROATED, CERULEAN, HOODED, PROTHONOTARY,
KENTUCKY, MOURNING, PRAIRIE, and ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLERS.
The concentration of birds is at the Tip along the east beach side, sheltered
from the S-SW breezes. A PROTHONOTARY, a HOODED, and a CERULEAN WARBLER were
noted amongst the birds at the Tip.
In the Sparrow Field area there was a HOODED WARBLER, ACADIAN FLYCATCHER, and
GRASSHOPPER SPARROW.
A YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT was found on the Redbud footpath.
Two CERULEAN WARBLERS were found on the Woodland Trail and Tilden Trail, and a
number of CANADA WARBLERS were seen on these trails too among other locations.
The KENTUCKY WARBLER that has been seen in the last few days on Tilden Trail is
reliably being seen again this morning and a MOURNING WARBLER was seen nearby.
If you're considering visiting the Park today, head on down and enjoy!
