Hello birders: Just after 4:30 p.m. this afternoon, 4 American White Pelicans slowly glided eastward past Owen Point. I scoped them from Beach 1, and there was an observer at Owen Point who surely got excellent looks.
It's possible that these four were in addition to the two seen earlier in the day, though we don't have enough evidence to confirm this. If a total of six were at Presqu'ile today after steady east winds, one can't help but wonder if these are the same birds last seen at Ingleside on Friday, May 10th. Directions: Presqu’ile Provincial Park is located on the north shore of Lake Ontario, just south of the town of Brighton. It can be reached from either Hwy. 401, or Cty. Rd. 2 and is well signed. A Park map can be found in the information tabloid available at the Park gate. Presqu’ile’s two offshore islands — Gull and High Bluff — support a large multi-species colonial bird nesting area and access is not permitted during the breeding season (10 March–10 September). Good birding! Ian Shanahan _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists (OFO) - the provincial birding organization.
