We are having another good day of birding in Point Pelee! Despite wet and cool conditions there have been a number of great highlights in the Park, especially including a continuing CHUCK-WILLS-WIDOW and WORM-EATING WARBLER that were first found on previous days. Other highlights this morning include KENTUCKY WARBLER, GOLDEN-WINGED WARBLER, HOODED WARBLER, MOURNING WARBLER, SUMMER TANAGER, YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT, and ACADIAN FLYCATCHER.
The CHUCK-WILLS-WIDOW was seen again in the same area of Post Woods about 100m north of Sparrow Field. The WORM-EATING WARBLER was reported early in the morning near the south end of the Redbud Footpath where it had been seen by many two days ago. A KENTUCKY WARBLER was found just before lunch at Sleepy Hollow along the West Beach Footpath. A GOLDEN-WINGED WARBLER was seen slightly south of Northwest Beach parking lot along the West Beach Footpath. Another was seen near Bridge A (boots needed today) on the Woodland Trail and a third bird was seen on the West Beach Footpath north Pioneer. HOODED WARBLERS were seen in three locations: slightly south of the Tip washrooms, north of Sparrow Field, and Botham Trail. A MOURNING WARBLER was found near the Tip. A SUMMER TANAGER was seen briefly in the northwest part of the Woodland Trail. YELLOW-BREASTED CHATS were seen in three locations this morning: slightly south of Sparrow Field, another around 200m north of Sparrow Field, and one at Botham Trail. The ACADIAN FLYCATCHER was seen slightly north of Sparrow Field around the same location it was found in yesterday. A PROTHONOTARY WARBLER has been reliably seen at the east end of Botham Trail, and others near Bridges A and F (boots needed today) on the Woodland Trail.
