Today is a fine day for birding, and groups are finding some great birds! These include WORM-EATING, HOODED, GOLDEN-WINGED, KENTUCKY, MOURNING, PRAIRIE, and PROTHONOTARY WARBLERS, as well as a YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT. The Tip was somewhat quiet but there was a female PRAIRIE WARBLER seen there. In Post Woods north of the Sparrow Field, the continuing CHUCK-WILLS-WIDOW was found roosting again. A WORM-EATING WARBLER was seen briefly on the east side of Tilden. HOODED WARBLERS were seen north of Dunes on the West Beach Footpath and in the Botham Trail. A GOLDEN-WINGED WARBER was at the north end of the Pioneer parking lot. A KENTUCKY WARBLER was at Pioneer. A MOURNING WARBLER was found at the north entrance to the West Beach parking area. A male PRAIRIE WARBLER was reported at the northeast corner of the DeLaurier Trail. PROTHONOTARY WARBLERS were seen west of Bridge A on the Woodland Nature Trail as well as Bridge F (boots may be necessary to access these bridges). A continuing YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT made an appearance across from the bench on Redbud footpath. Many warblers were feeding low to the ground again today, offering great views and photo opportunities. There was a leucistic WILSON'S WARBLER seen in Tilden Woods with white coloured wings. Other interesting finds were WHITE-EYED VIREO at the southeast corner of the DeLaurier Trail. A BREWSTER'S WARBLER was at the corner of Tilden and Shuster and a second one south of Sleepy Hollow along the West Beach Footpath. CANADA WARBLERS were seen along Shuster Trail and the east side of Tilden Trail. Also, many SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHERS were just outside the Park in the onion fields. Shortly before lunch many hundreds of BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS were reported flying around and attempting to land at The Tip.
