A great day to bird at Point Pelee. Though the birds are rather scattered,
reports are coming in regularly. About 29 species of warbler have been noted.
Highlights so far include a FISH CROW and DICKCISSEL reported flying off the
Tip during a short duration of reverse movement. INDIGO BUNTING, SCARLET
TANAGER, ORIOLES, and many blackbirds were also involved.
A BLACK-BILLED CUKOO was seen moving up and down the east side of the Tip, as
well as a CANADA WARBLER and a BLUE-WINGED WARBLER.
A PRAIRIE WARBLER was seen on the east side of Sparrow Field. Also of note in
Sparrow Field was a LAWRENCE'S WARBLER and a YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT. Farther
north in Post Woods, people noted an ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER and a MOURNING
WARBLER.
The most active part of Woodland Trail was between bridges F and E, where 13
species of common warbler were observed, along with the PROTHONOTARY WARBLERS.
On Botham Loop, there was a HOODED WARBLER, a CANADA WARBLER, and a
GRAY-CHEEKED THRUSH.
The east end of Shuster Trail had a large number of low moving warblers.
