We are having a fabulous morning in Point Pelee. There was a strong reverse movement of the birds in a brisk south wind at the Tip. Involved were many orioles and SCARLET TANAGER (many), DICKCISSEL(2+), OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER, SUMMER TANAGER(2), and BLUE GROSBEAK (2). Both BLACK-BILLED and YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOO at the Tip. A MOURNING WARBLER was also present at the Tip with many vireos, orioles, and a few warbler species. Also at the Tip there were BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER, SANDERLING, RUDDY TURNSTONE, SEMIPALMATED PLOVER, SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPER, and a WHIMBREL early on. Birders have been rather stuck at the Tip due to good activity but there are a few reports from the woods. CANADA WARBLERS are reported from along the Woodland Nature Trail near Bridge F and along the West Beach Trail just south of the Halfway Stop, as well as at the Tip. YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOO was found on Chinquapin trail on the north side near the bench overlooking the water area, and another was found near the Tip in the late morning. GRAY-CHEEKED THRUSH was reported from the Tip area and from Sleepy Hollow. A KENTUCKY WARBLER was found singing in the late morning on the Chinquapin Trail just north of Tilden Trail. A CONNECTICUT WARBLER was reported singing along Redbud Footpath.
