Last evening at about 8:30 I was pleasantly surprised to see about 40 Red Knots
as well as 70 Dunlin feeding in a large flooded area that has developed on
Woodbine Beach in Toronto. The birds were ignored by thousands gathered to
watch the impending fireworks show, frequently disturbed and the Red Knots soon
left.

These shorebirds were in addition to 100 Dunlin, 50 Whimbrel, Sanderling, Ruddy
Turnstone, Semipalmated Plover and Semipalmated Sandpaper seen on Tommy
Thompson Park 2 km to the west.
