Sorry for the delayed posting on this. Yesterday, around 3pm I was birding
around the perimeter of Collingwood Regional Airport looking for grassland
species. I was fortunate to find 4 very cooperative Upland Sandpipers
perched on fence posts over a short stretch on the north boundary of the
airport lands - along the Nottawasaga 33-34 Sideroad. While not
technically a rare species, eBird identified it as a large number for this
location and they seem to be the first ones reported in the Collingwood area
this year. The UPSA vocalizing regularly and 3 flew off in turn, sometimes
returning to the fence or to nearby hay bales. Two were interacting in the
air. A single (possible 5th) UPSA was also sighted from the 30-31 Sideroad
on the south side of the airport, just west of Fairgrounds Road. Also
present at both locations were Bobolink and E. Meadowlark. The best
location for scanning the airport lands is from Sideroad 33-34 directly
across from the airport hangars/buildings. The road is narrow with minimal
shoulder so be careful to pull off as far as possible and stay out of the
way of traffic- which is relatively light.

The Collingwood Regional Airport is located about 10 minutes NW of Stayner
or 10 min SE of Collinwood and can be accessed by several secondary roads
off of either the 124 or Hwy 26. The attached checklist provides the exact
location.
