Highlights:

There is still some great birding to be had in the Kingston area with
resident birds now on territories, and a few surprises elsewhere. Here are
the highlights of the last 2 weeks:

CHUCK-WILLS-WIDOW - the annually-occurring bird, first noted at this
location in 2014, has been reported again over the last 2 weeks at its haunt
just outside the area on Brewers Road/Hilltop Road, Prince Edward County.

SANDHILL CRANE - there were just a couple of sightings over the period, with
a single at sand lake near Elgin, and 2 at White lake, north of Godfrey.

WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPER - a breeding-plumaged adult was present at Martin
Edwards Reserve, Amherst Island, on 16th.

WILSON'S PHALAROPE - as many as 6 birds have been seen throughout the period
at the known breeding location of Martin Edwards Reserve, Amherst Island.

LEAST BITTERN - it continues to be a quiet year for this species though over
the last two weeks birds have been noted at Belle Island, Ambassador Marsh
and Little Cataraqui Marsh, all in Kingston, Moscow Marsh, Big Sandy Bay
(Wolfe Island), Landon Bay, and Keelerville.

CATTLE EGRET - the single bird that showed up in a field off Highway 15 near
Pittsburgh on 6th remained until 12th.

RED-HEADED WOODPECKER - 2 birds were seen at the known breeding location of
Frontenac Provincial Park on 18th.

PEREGRINE FALCON - The downtown Kingston birds appear to have successfully
raised young this year. Likewise the birds at the Lennox Generating Station
have also raised young.

LOGGERHEAD SHRIKE - birds continue to be seen at Napanee Limestone Plain
IBA.

ORCHARD ORIOLE - birds were noted on Wolfe Island, Prince Edward Point, and
Lennox Generating Station over the last 2 weeks.

CERULEAN WARBLER - there continues to be good numbers of this species this
year. Fourteen were counted on a survey route in Frontenac Provincial Park
on 18th.

In order to minimise disturbance to wildlife and property in the recording
area, Kingston Field Naturalists has adopted the KFN Sensitive Sightings
Policy
<http://kingstonfieldnaturalists.org/birding/KFN_sensitive_sightings_policy.
pdf> . Please note that you must be a card-carrying member of Kingston Field
Naturalists (KFN), or be accompanied by a member, to access both the Martin
Edwards Reserve and Amherstview Sewage Lagoons.

As always, a big thank you goes to all those who have submitted sightings
directly or via eBird.

Mark.
