  The Buffalo Bird Report is a service provided

  Highlights of reports received August 15
  through August 22 from the Niagara Frontier
  Region.

  Shorebirds continue to be the focal point of
  August birding.

  The MARBLED GODWIT at Dufferin Islands Park, at
  Niagara Falls, Ontario, was apparently last
  seen on August 17.

  On the Niagara Peninsula of Ontario this week,
  at the far west end of the BOS study region, an
  AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVER at the Poth Road turf
  farms in Dunnville. Also abundant KILLDEER with
  PECTORAL SANDPIPER and LESSER YELLOWLEGS.

  August 15 at Dunkirk Harbor, a BAIRD'S
  SANDPIPER at the rock jetty at the Main Street
  beach.

  The drained North Marsh at the Oak Orchard
  Wildlife Management Area continues to provide
  shorebird habitat. The marsh is on the east
  side of Knowlesville Road, across from the
  Swallow Hollow Trail. A juvenile BAIRD'S
  SANDPIPER on August 16, and a STILT SANDPIPER
  on the 18th and 20th. Other shorebirds at this
  location were KILLDEER, SEMIPALMATED PLOVER,
  GREATER YELLOWLEGS, LESSER YELLOWLEGS, SOLITARY
  SANDPIPER, SPOTTED SANDPIPER, SEMIPALM.
  SANDPIPER, LEAST SANDPIPER, PECTORAL SANDPIPER,
  WILSON'S SNIPE and SHORT-B. DOWITCHER. Plus, 3
  SANDHILL CRANES, and in the picnic area, two
  BLUE-WINGED WARBLERS.

  Shorebirds including dowitchers were also
  reported at a drained portion of Mohawk Pool,
  at the bend of Feeder Road in the Iroquois
  Refuge.

  Other reports - up to 10 BONAPARTE'S GULLS at
  Woodlawn Beach in Hamburg. Two PEREGRINE
  FALCONS at the nest box on the Winspear Avenue
  tower on the UB Main Street Campus. A SHARP-SH.
  HAWK in West Seneca. And in a Snyder backyard
  in Amherst, a leucistic, or white speckled,
  AMERICAN ROBIN.
