Posting for Brett Fried: With regard to the Gray Partridge seen today and yesterday along Paris Plains Church Road.
Please keep disturbance to a minimum. Although these birds can tolerate human activity, this varies from species to species and between individuals. Always assume that a bird is sensitive to your presence. To avoid stressing birds or exposing them to danger, exercise restraint during observation, photography or filming. Do not deliberately flush birds. Keep well back from their feeding locations. Seed has been place in safe areas that will allow birders to view these bird, yet the birds will be far enough away from the road to avoid potential collisions with cars. No Trespassing: This evening I spoke with a couple of the locals and they are concerned about birders trespassing on their properties to view these birds. I want to remind everyone to stay along the roadways and please respect the local landowners and do not trespass. These birds can easily be seen from along the roadways without walking into the fields. With the increased amount of the snow in the area the birds are feeding close to the road where there are open patches of dirt. Thank you everyone.
