Very reluctantly, the executive of the Niagara Peninsula Hawkwatch has
agreed to postpone further counting at Beamer Conservation area.

Our political leaders have been making their decisions based on science and
evidence. In light of that evidence, they are advising that people stay at
home except for essential activities. We cannot claim that the Hawkwatch is
an essential activity, even though we believe that the data collected over
the past 45 years are valuable. It is of great importance that we protect
the safety of our counters and others who come to watch migration.

One consequence of this decision is that the photography contest is deferred
until next year. This follows earlier decisions to cancel the Open House,
and to defer the annual meeting and banquet.

We wish to thank all those who have counted this year, and also the birders
who have come to Beamer and respected our physical distancing rules.
