Hello Birders, For the past week, a RufousHummingbird has been visiting the yard of Stella Cole, in the small hamlet ofProton Station which is located just off/southwest of Hwy 10, midway betweenOwen Sound and Shelburne.
The bird is actively visitinga feeder hanging from the clothesline in the backyard of the property locatedat 108 Edgar Street. Birders are welcome to tryto see the bird. The OFO Rare BirdAmbassador Program has been engaged to provide a viewing opportunity forbirders that keeps the homeowner and the community in mind. If you do visitplease keep these considerations in mind: - This is a quiet residential neighborhood; please be courteous and respectful. - Parking is available along Edgar Street, but beware of the steep ditching at the roadside, and ensure you are not blocking any driveways. - To view the bird, walk between the house and the garage to the backyard. Don’t cross the garden. The bird often is perched on the clothesline above the feeder, and occasionally visits a second feeder hanging on the deck. - If you report the bird to eBird, please use the "stakeout hotspot" that will appear nearby. Directions: From Hwy 10 turnsouth-westerly onto the Artemesia-Southgate Townline Road to Proton Station.Edgar Street is the second of the two streets in the hamlet. Good luck!
