Hello birders, OFO is proud to be one of the five partner organizations (along with Birds Ontario, the Environment and Climate Change Canada, the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry, and Ontario Nature) for the third Breeding Bird Atlas of Ontario. We will be posting updates on the Atlas-3 project on Birdnews from time to time.
How to find out more and get involved Field work for the atlas begins in 2021, just a few months away. All birders can contribute by recording observations of breeding birds, doing point counts, and conducting specialized surveys. If you can ID a bird, you can contribute, so please sign up! To find out more and to register, go to the Atlas-3 website at: https://www.birdsontario.org/ Atlas-3 has its own Facebook page at: https://www.facebook.com/ONBreedingBirdAtlas (English) or https://www.facebook.com/AtlasOiseauxON (French). Find the atlas on Instagram at @ONBirdAtlas or @AtlasOiseauxON, and on Twitter at @ONBirdAtlas or @AtlasOiseauxON When posting on social media, please use the hashtag #ONBirdAtlas3 or #AtlasOiseauxON3. Logo Contest The atlas team has prepared five fantastic logos for the atlas, but it is up to you to vote for your favourite. Which bird will represent the third Ontario Breeding Bird Atlas? Could it be the White-throated Sparrow, the Oh-Canada-Canada-Canada bird? Or the Blackburnian Warbler, flame-throat of the forest? Maybe you like the hard-to-find but easy to hear Ovenbird? The next two birds will fly into the Facebook page, Twitter feed and Instagram site over the next two days, then voting will commence on the Atlas-3 website at https://www.birdsontario.org/ Check out the avian choices on Facebook at: https://www.facebook.com/search/top?q=ontario%20breeding%20bird%20atlas Good Birding, Lynne Freeman OFO President -- Lynne Freeman [email protected] "Be bold, be brave, be amazing...."
