Brantfords 9th annual Christmas bird count was held on sunday January the 3rd.  
 38 social distanced field observers and 10 feeder watchers participated this 
year , making it our best participation yet , and thus contributing to our 
highest count to date at 74 species , with 4 additional count week species     
The mornings weather was less than ideal , and visibility due to a heavy 
snowfall made things a little trickier , and many participants were soaked to 
the core by 11 or 12, which comes with the territory of a christmas bird count 
.   Temperatures ranged from -1 to +1 , with light winds at times , while 
waterbodies remained mostly ice free   The afternoon turned into a sunny 
perfect winters january day      In total , 15 , 805 total birds were counted  
Previous snowfall was minimal     Highlights of the count were as follows

1 Red Necked Grebe

7 Tufted Titmice

1 Wood Duck

1 Hermit thrush

881 common redpolls  ( 1 Hoary )
