Due to COVID-19 restrictions, access to the top level of Hawk Tower is limited to hawk counters and qualified observers only. The 2nd and lower levels are open to the public practising COVID-19 safe precautions (social distancing). Thank you for your understanding and involvement. Weather: Temperature remained stable at low to mid 20s, cloud level fluctuated from no clouds to partly cloudy. Winds were mainly westerly, remaining neutral for migrating raptors. Haze was present within the morning hours but not to a drastic extent. Raptor Observations: Raptor counts remained low for today with only 2 Northern Harriers, several Turkey Vultures, and 1 Red Tail. Resident Osprey, Bald Eagles, and Turkey vultures were also present. Non-raptor Observations: Nonraptor counts also remained low with high numbers only being in marsh residents and Cedar Waxwings, Canada Geese, and Starlings. Warbler species diversity has decreased and migratory insect remains low. Predictions: Weather conditions appear to remain the same as todays with a mild shift to North-Westerly winds, hopefully encouraging more flight movements of migrating raptors. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Jacob Stasso ([email protected]) Holiday Beach Hawk Watch information may be found at: http://hbmo.ca/ More site information at hawkcount.org: https://hawkcount.org/siteinfo.php?rsite=100 -- Ontbirds and Birdnews are moderated email Listservs provided by the Ontario Field Ornithologists (OFO) as a service to all birders in Ontario.
