Observation start time: 07:00:00
Observation end time: 16:00:00
Total observation time: 9 hours

Official Counter: Stasso, Jacob

Observers: Hugh Kent, Michelle Mastellotto

Visitors:
We thank all today's observers for their efforts and those interested in
the ongoing Hawk Count. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, access to the top
level of Hawk Tower is limited to hawk counters and qualified observers
only. The 2nd and lower levels are open to the public practising COVID-19
safe precautions (social distancing). Thank you for your understanding and
involvement.

Weather:
Today consisted of a low of 0 degrees C and a high of 7 C. It was largely
cloudy throughout the day, contributing to the cold. Winds alternated from
north-westerly to westerly throughout the day as well.

Raptor Observations:
Similar trends of raptors as seen yesterday, although with lower numbers.
Raptors were once again either very far north or very high altitudes. 406
Turkey Vultures were seen today. Sharpies remain low at 13, and so does
Coopers (2)/Bald Eagles (2). No Harriers were seen today. Slightly lower
today for buteos but still solid, with 167 Red Tails and 15 Red Shoulders.

Non-raptor Observations:
Non-raptor count was diverse again today with continuing high species
richness in the marsh and overpassing passerines. Crow movement was very
high today at around 6200 seen. Blackbird movement was also high as similar
to yesterday. Our daily find was a domestic white Pekin duck sitting in
solitude within the marsh.

Predictions:
More temperature variation is expected tomorrow, with a low of -1 C and a
high of 8 C. However, it is expected to be primarily sunny with little
clouds, which could aid thermal formation and promote migration. Winds are
expected to be southerly/south-westerly tomorrow, hopefully it does not
hinder raptor observation.
