Posting for Andrea Gress, Ontario Piping Plover Program Coordinator:

We’ve got a Piping Plover nest at Hanlan’s Point Beach this year in
Toronto, and we’re looking for more volunteers to help with nest
monitoring.

Nest monitors help to collect some basic data about the birds’ wellbeing,
and also provide the public with very important information about how to
behave at the nest site and give the birds space. They have to be able to
get to/from the Island, and be comfortable walking to the nest, and should
ideally have their own binoculars (but not mandatory). It’s fun opportunity
for beginner and experienced birders, with a very flexible schedule so
people can help out whenever. Having a large team of volunteers will be
essential for the success of this nest.

People can sign up here:
https://mailchi.mp/bc38797882f8/volunteer-for-ontario-piping-plovers

Once they’ve signed up, they’ll receive additional training materials. You
can also direct people to me via email if they’d like more information.

Thanks!!
