Observation start time: 07:00:00
Observation end time: 16:00:00
Total observation time: 9 hours

Official Counter: Hugh Kent

Observers: Donny Moore, Liz Kent, Michelle Mastellotto, Olga Klekner

Visitors:
Thanks to Olga, Donny and Michelle for helping spot hawks during the
morning and early afternoon. We had a good number of visitors today (over
50) - thanks for your interest and we were glad to explain about the Hawk
Watch and help with your questions.

Weather:
Variable thin cloud (40-80%) with a light wind from the south. Quite hot
with temperature at mid to high 20s all day. Good visibility, but hazing
over towards late afternoon.

Raptor Observations:
Quite a slow day with Sharp-shinned Hawks the most numerous. A few
Broad-winged and Red-tailed Hawks passed by mostly to the north. American
Kestrel and Merlin were 2 apiece. Hot temperatures with a southerly wind
did not help raptor migration.

Non-raptor Observations:
Highlight of the day was a tufted Titmouse in the willow north of the tower
mid morning, found by Donny Moore. Great Egret and Double-crested Cormorant
numbers are growing on the marsh and it was good to see quite a large flock
of Lesser Yellowlegs over flying the Tower towards the Lake. Swallow
numbers were down today, as were Warblers. The list is at
https://ebird.org/checklist/S118471065

Predictions:
Much the same tomorrow, but with slightly lower temperatures and a small
chance of rain. Likely the cloud will be thicker, so combined with lower
temperature, lets hope we get slightly more raptor movement. Sharp-shinned
Hawks will probably be the most numerous, as today and yesterday.
