Observation start time: 07:00:00
Observation end time: 16:00:00
Total observation time: 9 hours

Official Counter: Nicole Shangi

Observers: Hugh Kent, Jim McCoy, Liz Kent

Visitors:
We thank all of our visitors to the tower today including Jim, and John. we
appreciate all the nice visitors that keep us company on the tower and help
us spot birds!

Weather:
The weather today was quite nice. It was partly cloudy all day with weaker
winds than yesterday but still strong and northerly enough to bring in some
raptors. The wind was westerly all day with a slight northern component.

Raptor Observations:
We were surprised to see more broad-wings today! Though not in as high
numbers as last Friday, we counted around 300 over the tower and to the
north. The turkey vulture migration is slowly starting to heat up, we had
multiple streams of around 50 vultures, some low to the tower for a good
view. We also had many sharpies and kestrels, with some northern harriers,
peregrines and bald eagles.

Non-raptor Observations:
There were a few more passerines flitting around the trees today due to the
weaker winds. We observed our first orange-crowned kinglet of the season! A
few other warblers were around as well as some waterfowl. We are hoping to
see more waterfowl species soon. Over 10,000 blue jays were counted again
today, with no sign of slowing down.

Predictions:
Tomorrow's winds should have a stronger north component and partly cloudy
like today. There is a chance for more broad-wing kettles and we could use
as many eyes as we can to count raptors!
