Observation start time: 07:00:00
Observation end time: 16:00:00
Total observation time: 9 hours

Official Counter: Hugh Kent

Observers: Cindy Isenhoff, Cramer, Donny Moore, Jacob Stasso,
John Hall, Juliette Herdman, Liz Kent, Noel Herdman

Visitors:
Huge thanks to observers Cindy, Cramer, Donny, Juliette, John, Jacob and
Noel for their excellent spotting skills. It was nice to see Mike on the
tower together with all the other visitors who took a great interest in the
Hawk Watch and birds on the Marsh.

Weather:
Moderate to strong North winds today! Partially overcast all day with
temperatures in the mid to high teens. Low humidity gave us clear
visibility. Great conditions for Hawk watching!

Raptor Observations:
Steady flows all day of Turkey Vulture and Sharp-shinned Hawk gave us
totals of 1530 and 292 respectively. A late rush of American Kestrel meant
that we ended up with a total of 189 for the day. Buteos are starting to
appear in greater numbers with 69 Red-tailed Hawks and our first look at
numbers of Red-shouldered Hawks (7). Broad-winged Hawks are diminishing now
with only 18 seen today. A good species count of 12.

Non-raptor Observations:
Today was a duck day with 7 species seen with first of the season
Ring-necked Duck and Green-winged Teal. Duck numbers are slowly starting to
build. It will be interesting to see what numbers we get with the marsh
water level being so low. Blackbirds are slowly increasing with more
Red-winged Blackbirds (425) flying by but songbird numbers were really low
with Yellow-rumped the only warbler. New for the list was a single
Trumpeter Swan.
The list is at https://ebird.org/checklist/S119802058

Predictions:
Similar to today with moderate wind from the NE. Clearer skies are likely.
Hopefully we will have more of the same as today, but with increasing
numbers across the board including buteos.
