Visitors:
We thank all our wonderful visitors to the tower today which make each day
so enjoyable. Noel, Juliette, chuck, John W., Lisa, John H., Linda, Ian,
and John B., thank you all so much for all of your support and help!

Weather:
It was a chilly day on the tower today! We had north winds all day and lots
of clouds. We saw a nice variety of birds today.

Raptor Observations:
The winds brought a good amount of turkey vultures today. There weren't as
many buteos flying with them today as we have seen in the past, but we were
still able to see a nice amount of red-tailed hawks and a few
red-shouldered hawks. Most of the buteos were very high today and the
vultures low. Early this morning, a group of about 20 vultures came very
low over the tree line and over the tower which was very cool to see! We
are also keeping our eyes open for black vultures and golden eagles,
however we didn't see any today. A couple of juvenile Northern harriers had
a bit of fun over the marsh today, landing on branches and interacting with
each other. We also saw a gorgeous gray ghost, which is a male northern
harrier.

Non-raptor Observations:
The usual birds were around the tower today. Maybe due to the wind, it
seems like the warblers are heading off. Almost everyday, we see new
species, and today that was a swamp sparrow! More and more waterfowl are
appearing on the marsh too, and shorebirds are taking advantage of the low
water levels. We saw lots of American coot, American black duck and
ring-necked duck.

Predictions:
Tomorrow should be a bit sunnier, and a bit warmer, however the wind may be
westerly for at least part of the day. Regardless, there is always
something to see, and good company is always appreciated.
