There are still a large number (20-30,000) in the area of Russell and Embrun. Areas to check are around the sewage lagoons of both towns (the lagoons themselves are off limits). Also check the Russell storm pond and west of Morwood. There are also a few thousand at the Winchester lagoons, both in town and just outside. A small number remain in the vicinity of the Moose Creek lagoons. They will feed in nearby harvested cornfields, including areas immediately south of Hwy 417, west of Hwy 138. They have not been feeding on the adjacent sod fields.
They could remain as late as Christmas depending on how much snow we get between now and then. If finding corn in the harvested fields becomes too difficult they will leave.
