Observation start time: 07:00:00
Observation end time: 16:00:00
Total observation time: 9 hours

Official Counter: Hugh Kent

Observers: Chad Cornish, Liz Kent

Visitors:
Many thanks to Chad for helping observe on our first day. It was quite busy
with 41 visitors to the Tower, many of whom showed a great interest in the
Hawk Watch.

Weather:
Very pleasant day, blue sky with very good visibility, humidity low. Wind
light from NE initially, turning south. Temperature initially high teens
finishing up in high twenties.

Raptor Observations:
A good start in terms of species seen - 8. Low numbers however, probably to
be expected early in September. Broad-winged Hawks leading the pack with 5
seen, 2 each of Red-tailed Hawk, Sharp-shinned Hawk, Cooper's Hawk,
American Kestrel and Merlin. Singles of Bald Eagle and Northern Harrier.

Non-raptor Observations:
Nearly got to 50 species seen. Highlights were 2 Red headed Woodpeckers and
7 American White Pelicans high west over the marsh. Warblers were a little
disappointing with only 4 species seen. Reasonable numbers of Cedar Waxwing
whizzing around. The list can be seen at
https://ebird.org/checklist/S148710765

Predictions:
With winds from the south west tomorrow, I guess it will be much of the
same, but always hoping that Hawk numbers will increase.
