The sun is out again and it looks like there was a large amount of birds that migrated overnight because the park is very birdy! The Tip was quiet first thing in the morning but most of the trails have lots singing, mainly up high in the canopy.
This morning a juvenile LITTLE GULL was seen at the tip for the fourth day in a row. West Beach has produced PRAIRIE WARBLER, CLAY-COLOURED SPAROW and multiple HOODED WARBLERS. GOLDEN-WINGED WARBLER and YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT appeared in Tilden Woods. ACADIAN FLYCATCHER was heard and seen on Redbud Trail, as well as continuing WHITE-EYED VIREOS. BLACK-BILLED CUCKOOs have been reported on both Woodland and White Pine. And finally, the trails are loud with TENNESSEE WARBLERS, with more and more BLACKPOLL and BAY-BREASTED WARBLERS arriving, and a few CANADA and WILSON’S WARBLERS sprinkled throughout the park. Happy birding! Aaron, Felix, Mark, Julie, Cam The 2025 Festival of Birds runs May 1 - 19.
