Hi everyone,

The 20th annual Linwood CBC was held December 28th. Temperatures ranged
from +1 to -2 degrees. Winds were SE, 20-30km/hr. We had steady rain,
starting at 10 am, lasting the rest of the day, with upwards of 20 mm,
making for a challenging day.

A total of 28 count participants gave the count good coverage, considering
the conditions, with 47 species observed, below the count's average of 53.5
species. There were no new species; the cumulative species total sits at
104.

Total number of individuals was below average, with 4,718 (ave. is 12,553),
which constitutes a record low.

*Unusual species: *

Hermit Thrush – 2 birds found in different areas of the count (3rd record
for the count)

*High-counts:* Red-breasted Nuthatch – 52 (prev high 48), Dark-eyed Junco –
572 (prev high 557), Winter Wren – 2 (prev high 1)

*Low-counts:* Canada Goose – 26 (prev low of 43), American Crow – 59 (prev
low 218), Rough-legged Hawk – 5 (prev low of 10), Red-tailed Hawk – 19
