Sorry, but the bird I saw was not a Varied Thrush but a Yellow-headed
Blackbird. Perhaps the light that day made the yellow seem more orange
than yellow.

At about 1:30 pm, I saw a Varied Thrush at Cache Bay Wetlands along the
Tower Trail which skirts Lake Nipissing. (Tower Trail is reached from the
ballpark from where the tower is visible.) While looking at a couple of
Red-winged Blackbirds through my binoculars, I just happened to see the
thrush in the wet thickets on the right side of the trail from the tower,
just before the trail becomes a bit impassable because of water across
the trail. I mostly saw its dark head, brilliant orange eyebrow above its
black eye patch and its brilliant orange throat and neck before the dark
body. Because it was hidden in the thickets and low to the ground, I did
not see the rest of it.
