Oh ok, but that should be fine, right?  The `+' tells you that the version 
is somewhere between releases... which is more information than we get now 
from the tarball name.

In general, I'm not sure how you can update the version in AC_INIT with 
each ChangeLog modification without re-running configure and make every 
time.  That would be annoying and tempting to circumvent.
