While searching the web for *BiT* and *keyring* related posts/entries I came 
across this Debian bug report against backintime-qt from 10/2021.

The last entry is from 12/2023 and it would seem (?) to me that the issue I 
have posted *may* be related to that bug report.
ie: as BiT will not work if I purge gnome-keyring, I think we can safely say 
that it is using gnome-keyring instead of the presently installed 
python3-keyring. (23.9.3-2)

I'd appreciate your comments.
