Once I was advised that keppassxc required network access, it ceased to be an
option.

But, as I mentioned earlier in the thread, it does not.

The thing is that when I saw that gnome-keyring was a *recommends* I purged it.
But then BiT would not work, so I had to re-install it and things went back to
normal.

It would seem (?) that the issue at hand is related to this bug report:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
backintime-qt: Fails to access the keyring with python3-keyring 23.2.0-1
<https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=998105>
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It is all well over my head.

Nevertheless, I will see if I can understand what the mentioned patch is about.
<https://salsa.debian.org/jmw/pkg-backintime/-/merge_requests/9>

That said, and as long as BiT works with gnome-keyring installed, I will have
to wait and see
if the reported bug actually gets fixed in Debian upstream (still present in
Bookworm) and
then enabled in the Devuan repositories.

Thanks for your input.

Best,

JHM
