While smart keeping like that proposed may be desirable, I'd also like
my backup solution to be intelligent about deleting an iteration if
needed in order to have enough space to complete the current backup.

Status in Back In Time: Confirmed

Bug description:
This probably should go in wish list. Instead of "Smart Remove," it may be
better to have "Smart Keep" as is done by rsnapshot. So the GUI could look like
this:

Snapshot frequency Number-of-savepoints
5_minutes 0
Hourly 24*2
Daily 7
Weekly 4
Monthly 12
Yearly -1 ( <0 would mean all)

Of course, the 'Number-of-savepoints' should be customizable by the user.
