Public bug reported: Hi And thanks for a great application!
I have noticed an issue with scheduled backups with snapshots on an external (USB) drive when the drive is not attached to the system. As per design, if Back-in-time can't find the snapshot folder it shall wait for 30 seconds and try again. When the scheduled backup starts and the drive is not attached, the flashing icon appears in the tray and a tooltip informs that snapshot folder is not found and that it is waiting 30 seconds. However, when the drive is attached no snapshot is taken. These are my observations (now with the drive attached): - When I attach the drive, nothing happens with back-in-time, the icon continues to flash. - When I run backintime the button "Take snapshot" is disabled and the gutter says "Working: Can't find snapshots folder. If it is on a removable drive please plug it. Waiting 30 seconds.". Note, however, that my snapshots are now indeed visible in the left frame of the application window. - I must kill back-in-time (or reboot) in order to be able to take another snapshot I run: Ubuntu Karmic Back In Time 0.9.99beta10 The following are the entries related to backintime I have found in the logs (user.log and syslog): Jan 26 15:15:03 localhost backintime (niklas): INFO: Lock Jan 26 15:15:03 localhost backintime (niklas): INFO: [GnomePlugin.Systray.run] Jan 26 15:15:03 localhost backintime (niklas): INFO: on process begins Jan 26 15:15:03 localhost backintime (niklas): INFO: [GnomePlugin.Systray.run] begin loop Jan 26 15:15:03 localhost backintime (niklas): INFO: Profile_id: 1 All the best Nikke ** Affects: backintime Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Scheduled backup to external device fails is device not attached https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/512813 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Back In Time Team, which is subscribed to Back In Time.
