as an aside, i've personally always found indentation sensitive things
frustrating at least in that i can't easily copy-and-paste (e.g.
example code on a web page that of course loses indentation in
whatever horribly crappy translations it must go through to get from
the browser display into my emacs buffer) or automatically re-indent
things in haskell or python. you can in ruby because it doesn't get
rid of the 'region delimiters' ({,},begin,end}, only the statement-end
