A generally good place to start for GC is with Richard Jones' braindump site at <http://www.cs.kent.ac.uk/people/staff/rej/>, there's a massive biblio section. His book's very good too, although it's purely about runtime GC, no static analysis/escape capture, at least in the first edition.
