Just to be clear. Firstly, I'm interested in multi-platform SIMD (Intel, ARM, Cell) processing (which is not quite the same as platform independent SIMD), not only intel x86 SSE-x stuff. Secondly, I'm primarily concerned with being able to express numerical/multimedia algorithms in SIMD within the context of, and taking advantage of, the improvements in type safety, expressiveness, etc, of BitC.
