Gavin,

 The directory within the tarball "bitcoin-0.5.0-linux.tar.gz" is
"bitcoin-0.5.0rc7-linux", I guess it should be named just
"bitcoin-0.5.0-linux", right!?

 BTW, I got some errors here, like:
